Who are the Knit Wits? They are your friends and neighbors who are active and playing golf, tennis, pickleball, softball, putting, line dancing, volunteering and keeping busy. But they also keep their fingers and minds busy knitting (and crocheting) other times, like riding in a car, or waiting for a meal to be served, or waiting in a doctor’s office, or especially while watching TV. Our members knit for themselves, their loved ones and for those in need.
The numbers of donated items in 2016 was impressive: 39 chemo hats for adults and children, 294 items for infants and children at Family First (blankets, hats, sweaters, ponchos, for example), approximately 300 hats for Kids’ Closet, 171 Knitted Knockers delivered to Phoenix for distribution in Arizona, 30 baby blankets and 15 hats to Northwest Hospital for preemies and infants and three lap robes for the VA; also numerous items for our annual baby shower to assist SaddleBrooke Troop Support.
Our members are looking forward to another visit from world-renowned dyer of yarn, Mary Gavan. We are also planning classes and lunches out. New members are welcome anytime. Our meetings take place each Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at HOA 1 Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4. Stop by!
