Karen Warner, a former high school swimmer, joined the SaddleBrooke Swim Club last year and has been working out with the assistance of Head Coach Doug Springer to improve her technique and fitness. She has improved to such a level that she recognized her old high school form and felt confident enough to enter her first meet.

At the 30th annual Green Valley Senior Swim Meet held in February, Karen was excited but somewhat nervous before the opening of the first race, just like all of us swimmers are at their very first competition.

Doug was there for the start of her first race preparing and encouraging her for the 25 yard freestyle race. She took off with a flying start and finished with a first place medal! She swam in three more events – the 25 back finishing first, the 100 free and the 50 free, finishing second in each race. The whole team was cheering for her and surrounded her with hugs and congratulations!

Eight other SaddleBrooke swimmers came home with eleven gold medals, nine silver medals and four bronze medals. We are looking for more female swimmers in all age groups. Come and join the fun and enjoy our swim workouts which are anywhere from beginner to advanced. You might be surprised how well you can swim!
