Join Us for John’s Concert

Our trumpet player John Reitz turned 100 on Aug. 7, 2024!

At “John’s Concert” on Sept. 28 at DesertView Performing Arts Center, we will be performing “Century Overture,” a piece commissioned in honor of John. The Tucson composer, Bob Atwell, will be on bass clarinet for this concert.

The piece is inspired by musical references from the year John was born. Other pieces on the program include “My Romance,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Fanfare for the Common Man,” “Porgy and Bess,” “Themes Like Old Times,” “Armed Forces on Parade,” “Cole Porter Classics,” “Stardust,” and “Happy Birthday.” John will be playing a solo at the concert.

John served in the military during WWII, played in his own band, and played in others starting at the age of 16, and wrote his memoir at age 98!

And of course our popular music director Jesus Jacquez will be conducting!

Tickets ($10 + $1.50 ticketing fee) are now on sale at DVPAC.net.
