January Lecture: Water in SaddleBrooke

Tom Brothen, presenter, along the Colorado River

Heather Wolf

The Friends of SaddleBrooke Libraries are excited to announce our next informative lecture. Tom Brothen will speak on Water in SaddleBrooke. Join us on Jan. 15, 2026, in the DesertView Theater at 5 p.m. Please note that our lecture will start an hour later than usual, so mark your calendars accordingly. You won’t want to miss this one!

In the accompanying photo, you see Tom Brothen alongside the Colorado River. Unfortunately, that water can’t help us here in SaddleBrooke. Our water resources, along with others in Arizona, are limited, due to changes beyond our control. However, there are conditions we can control; and Friends of SaddleBrooke Libraries is pleased to welcome Tom, who has some ideas on this topic as our speaker.

Tom has been a SaddleBrooke resident since 2018; and since moving here from Minnesota, has plunged into his interest in water as a special resource. Formerly he taught psychology at the University of Minnesota for 54 years and is currently the Morse-Alumni Distinguished Professor of Psychology Emeritus.

Some questions about our water that frequently come up are: what is the source of our water; is this source limited; can we plan to enhance our water supply; what is the future for our water? Save WaterSave Money?

Please join us for a better understanding of these issues.

As always, this lecture is free for Friends of SaddleBrooke Libraries members and just $5 for non-members. If you are not a member or your membership has lapsed, you can learn more about our mission and join/renew at www.SBFSL.org or in person in the lobby prior to the lecture.
