On October 5, 2017 Mr. Joe Pinella gave an inspirational speech to the SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary regarding overcoming adversity through the healing arts of Chi Gong and Tai Chi Kung. As a teenager he met a Chinese Buddhist Monk who took him to the Chinese temple (store front) and there he discovered the art of movement, Chi Gong.
His challenge in overcoming adversity started with a horrific auto accident in 1991 when his car and trailer careened down a ravine in Flagstaff, Arizona that left him a quadriplegic. After multiple surgeries and eight weeks of physical therapy, he decided to quit going since there was no improvement. Instead of giving up on his disability, he remembered his earlier encounter with the Buddhist monk and started to think about Chi Gong exercises. His mantra became the body will heal itself through picturing his injuries and the healing arts of movement. After seven years of desire, determination and dedication to these healing arts, Joe has regained the use of his body with no pain and no limitations.
Joe uses his personal healing experience to empower others to rehabilitate and recover their health and live a better quality of life.
