Balance and Fall Prevention
On Monday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. Janis Bottai, Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, will address SaddleBrooke residents at Health Night Out in the MountainView Ballroom to discuss fitness strategies that you can practice to be strong and remain independent.
Gary Hammond, developer of the senior website at SaddleBrooke, will join Janis to share the services available to SaddleBrooke residents through SaddleBrooke Senior Village to help us live in our homes as long as possible.
Janis is a Functional Aging Specialist and owner of Vital Moves. She was the fitness coordinator of the SaddleBrooke One Fitness Center from 1993 through 1996. Over the years of working with clients, she has continued to study how aging affects the body and movement patterns and how it impacts exercise and balance.
One out of every three seniors will suffer a fall this year.
2.5 million older adults will be treated in emergency departments for injuries related to falls.
Falls are the most common cause of traumatic brain injury and they account for 95% of hip fractures.
Janis’ presentation will outline the conditions and factors that contribute to falls so that we understand why we fall. She will also present exercises, drills and strategies that can help individuals be strong and steady, live well and remain independent.
Gary will describe the transportation and socialization services available through the SaddleBrooke Senior Village to help us continue to live in our homes as long as possible.
Dress Comfortably. Janis believes in the power of movement. There will be an opportunity for audience involvement—all voluntary, of course.
As always, The MountainView Bistro will offer a special healthy menu selection for Health Night Out, so enjoy dinner at The Bistro before attending the presentation. Watch your email for menu details.
The Health and Wellness Committee is pleased to host this fitness expert on Monday, April 25, 7:00 p.m. at the MountainView Ballroom.
Health Night Out is a free educational presentation for residents of SaddleBrooke One and Two, The Preserve and SaddleBrooke Ranch and is brought to you by SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness.
