SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club enjoys Halloween Bash

I was working in the lab, late one night, when my eyes beheld an eerie sight; for the dancers from the club began to rise and, suddenly, to my surprise—-it was a bash!

Zombies were having fun. So were 28 line dancers from the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club. On October 26 the Vermilion Room crypt came alive with candy corn witches, evil vixens, princesses, flappers, cowgirls, devil women, a black cat, a cowboy and a scary Beetlejuice gal with a hot flash hanky in her pocket. The rest of the dancers embraced orange as the new black, which apparently works both ways on Halloween. The annual SBLDC Halloween social is always a graveyard smash—-a chance to switch it up from our usual music to the scary tunes of classics like Monster Mash, Ghostbusters, Spooky, Clap for the Wolfman and a few skeleton closet treasures like The Lurch. Let’s face it, isn’t dancing more fun with screaming ghouls?

After an hour of devilish good times it was time for the dancers to sit for a spell, have some brew and cast votes for Best Costume and Best Pumpkin. The costume award went to Social Committee leader Lynne Kumza who elevated Raggedy Ann to a whole new height-—about 5’8”. The pumpkin award was won by Mary Gajeske with her mysterious, masked line dancing pumpkin head with bling and fake eyelashes. Geez, talk about piling on a trend! Prizes included gift certificates to Panera Breads and Blue Banana.

Halloween expressions:

Time for a coffin break

Sit for a spell and have some brew

Eat, drink and be scary

Just hanging out with my ghoul friends

Jack-o-lanterns are on the cutting edge

Carved out some good times

Opened the lid and shook his fist and said “Whatever happened to my Transylvania Twist?”

Don’t be a scaredy cat

Free broom with flying lessons

If the broom fits, fly it

It was a graveyard smash.

It caught on in a flash. You’ll catch on in a flash

No bones about it.

Bats all folks!
