Dozens of mouthwatering crepes were devoured with relish by the SaddleBrooke Francophiles on February 10, at the lovely home of Frank and Kathy Hartley. Party goers donned festive Mardi Gras masks, hats and the traditional colors of the New Orleans gala event. Members created a variety of savory and sweet fillings for the crepes, our crowned royalty, Ed Dienno and Maria Miller, were honored, and a truly memorable evening was enjoyed by all present.
The “Foods and Wines of the Regions of France,” on March 10 featured the diverse variety of regional foods and varietal wines from the many regions of France, including Provence, Burgundy, Alsace-Lorraine, Loire and Normandy. Members prepared an entree, a salad or a dessert from one of the regions; we have many innovational chefs amongst our members, so this party proved to be another deliciously successful one.
“Paris in the Park” will be the theme for our April 14 gathering. Members will bring a food item to share for a French picnic that one would have under the Eiffel Tower. Games will be on the agenda, as well, including a possible “Waiter’s Race.”
Our “Diners a la Maison” are underway; April 19 is next on the calendar. These intimate dinners are hosted by members, guests bring dishes to compliment the entree choice, along with their choice of wine. This activity is chaired by Mylinda Guillen, and it serves to give members the opportunity to meet other members on a more personal basis.
