February and March are a couple of the best months in the year to play golf here at SaddleBrooke. Except for a few frost delays here and there in February, the weather has been ideal. It’s also more the merrier with the winter visitors adding to the enjoyment.
Congratulations go out to Geri Sandilands, 2016 President’s Cup Champion. Geri, your name is coming up so often in the winner circle you may have to start signing autographs and giving press conferences. Close behind in second place is Gloria Eby. Debra Finn took third and Gail Plimpton placed fourth. All of you must be proud of yourselves for your efforts. We sure are proud of you.
Wanda Day had the thrill of achieving her first hole-in-one on Thursday, March 3. SaddleBrooke hole No. 6 will always hold a special place in her heart.
The Quail Classic is one of the most enjoyable tournaments during the year. It gives us proud Brookies a chance to show off our beautiful golf courses and first class amenities. Invite your friends from other clubs to join you for two days of golf on April 11 and 12. If your guests can arrive the day before play begins, they can get a practice round of golf at a discount. This is shaping up to be the best Quail Classic ever. If you are feeling creative and generous and would like to put a basket of goodies together for the silent auction, Sandy Collins is accepting donations even past the deadline to play which was April 23.
Huge congratulations to 2016 Club Champion Bonnie Barker and 2016 Senior Club Champion Phyllis Sarrels. The theme of the tournament was Renowned Golf Courses which added an extra measure of prestige to the play. You ladies are renowned in our eyes. The Club Championship after party held at Kay Kunze’s home was a blast with great food, friends and a lot to celebrate. Thanks, Kay, for opening your home and for your hospitality.
The 49er Country Club will be the venue for the April Kachina outing. Phyllis Taylor and Kathy De Merritt have been doing such a great job organizing these events; our thanks to you for all your hard work.
The next monthly meeting will be held on April 19. This is one of the most important meetings of the year. Please think about volunteering for the nominating committee and offering your particular gifts and aptitudes to the betterment of the SBWGA. We need you!
The Cancer Tournament in July will also be discussed at the meeting. We partner with the Lady Niners which is always fun. There will also be a surprise guest speaker and a great lunch, too.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any news that you would like included in our article. I would love to hear from you and share ideas to improve.
