The hot July weather did not deter the spirits of the Dogpatch clans on July 22. The Yokums, Polecats, Shmoos and Moonshiners had a great time on and off the course thanks to the efforts of co-chairs Debra Finn and Molly Fullerton. Yokum 1st place winners: Beaver Simpson, Debbie McMullin, Jerry Back and Sandra Murray; 2nd place, Warren Stephens, Kerry Crowell, Ted Stark and Reenie Romey. Polecat 1st place winners: Mike Turner, Angie Denahan, Gene Denahan and JoAnne Turner; 2nd place, Michael Mueller, Nancy Huffman, Carl Travor and Geri Sandilands. Shmoo 1st place winners: Tony Parolisi, Sue Bush, Phil Bush, Margie Parolisi; 2nd place, Bill Prati, Maggie Falconer, Jack Coonce and Patti Prati. Moonshiner 1st place: Rodger McNeill, Jane Wilson, Joe Liske and Melanie Neilson; 2nd place, Tom Shepherd, Sandy Collins, Bob Collins, Marcia Keim. Closest to the hole winners were Marcia Keim at 1’ 10” and Mick Borm at 5’ 1”! Way to play and congrats to all the Sadie Hawkins winners.
July Aces are Becky Hubbard with a gross score of 80 and Debra Finn with a net of 69. August Aces. It was a nice repeat round for Debra Finn with a gross score of 82. Maggie Brown is our Low Net winner with a score of 70. Very nice scores, ladies!
Congratulations to Kerry Crowell and Reenie Romey who recently won low gross (1st Flight) at the Southern District Spring/Summer Four Ball Tournament.
August 12 and 13 brought the SMGA, SBWGA and Niners together for two days. The Summer Classic 1st place winners are Flight 1, JR Salladay, Greg Tarr, Bonnie Barker and Molly Fullerton; 2nd Flight, Ron Rivas, Gary Stewart, Kathleen Weiss and Yolanda Niemann. Thanks to the SMGA for sponsoring this fun event.
With summer waning it is time to begin thinking about fall activities. The ladies of SBWGA-18 will have a luncheon meeting on September 2. Guest Day is set for October 28 (co-chaired by Wanda Hutchison and Dudie Lewis) followed by the Cactus Classic, November 4, 6 and 11.
