2017 Oscar season
Well, at least we got some of the 2017 Best Picture nominees on our schedule prior to the announced nominees: Hell or High Water and Manchester By the Sea (at DVPAC March 21 at 2:15 and 7:00 p.m.). We missed with a couple other picks (Florence Foster Jenkins and Sully). These two movie misses were, however, extremely popular with the sophisticated SaddleBrooke audiences. What do those Hollywood types know?
We are pleased to announce that two additional nominees in the Best Picture category are now on the schedule: Hacksaw Ridge on March 28 and Moonlight on April 11. Visit our website www.desertviewcc.org for our complete schedule through April 11. You can see the YouTube movie trailers on our site as well.
We only scheduled movies through April 11 as we’re hopeful that several other Best Picture nominees will be made available through our licensing agents. Fences, La La Land, Lion and Hidden Figures are in this category. We might, just might, be able to extend our season a week or two if these SaddleBrooke-friendly pictures come out.
From our website you’ll see we have other good pictures on our schedule, even if the Academy didn’t pick them among the nine best for 2017: Queen of Katwe and Snowden.
Join us at the DVPAC on Tuesdays at 2:15 or 7:00 p.m.! Oh, tell your friends, too. We’re in our twelfth season and there are still many residents unaware of the DesertView Cinema Club. Remember, non-members are welcome; admission is just $3!
