On Dec. 11 Santa decided to stroll over to his workshop to see how the Christmas gift-making was going. Things seemed fine until he noticed that a few of his “elves” were missing. And where were all these elves? At the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club holiday dance party, that’s where! As usual, the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse looked beautifully decked out in holiday style, and there was a sparkling tree in the corner of the Vermilion Room dance floor. All the dancers looked lovely wearing their festive best! After everyone arrived and found their table assignments, we got down to the main event—line dancing!
We started right off dancing to “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas.” Of course, we also danced to the tried-and-true holiday favorites “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” A few newer, fun songs were sprinkled in, like “Ugly Christmas Sweater” (everybody has one!) and “Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy.” After a few more dances, it was time to take a break and have some lunch. Club members enjoyed a delicious meal of skirt steak or chicken. But the highlight of the meal seemed to be the dessert. It was a wonderful pepper-minty ice cream cake with graham cracker crust. Sooooo good!
More things were happening during the break. There was a photo booth where you could stand, choose to hold a sign indicating if you were “naughty” or “nice,” and have your picture taken. (I wonder what Santa would have thought about that?) When club members arrived, they were given a raffle ticket. Many numbers were called, and lucky winners received prizes like bottles of wine, guest passes to Tohono Chul Botanical Garden, and free passes to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Super cool!
Dancing continued with the songs “Christmas Cookies,” “You’re All I Want for Christmas,” “I’m the Real Santa,” and “A Christmas Twist.” Great fun! The party wrapped up with a Riverdance-like dance called “Hypnosis” to an old favorite “Christmas in Killarney.” Once again, many, many thanks to the Music Committee and the Social Committee for making this such a fantastic holiday party. All club members truly appreciate their willingness to be so generous with their time and talents.
