The Community Church at SaddleBrooke held a Good Old Fashioned Western Roundup and Barbeque on Sunday, October 18, 2015, in order to honor their three pastors, their wives and staff. One hundred and forty people from church came all decked out in their western attire to the MountainView Ballroom for this very special event. They started their time of fellowship with coffee and cookies.
When the Chuck Wagon Buffet was opened, the hungry pastors and cowpokes were treated to cowboy-sized burgers with all the fixin’s, delicious barbecued chicken breasts, fresh hot-off-the-trail potato salad and a mouthwatering array of fresh fruit.
The pastor and staff appreciation event was opened by cowgirl, Vicki Tessitore, walking around with her lariat, looking for someone to lasso. Perry Jurgens was quickly lassoed and herded to the stage to honor Pastor Ron Gannett. Filled with humor and honesty, Perry brought laughter to all. After all the pastors, wives and staff were honored on stage and given gifts and cards of appreciation, Vicki Tessitore gave the microphone to Nancy Klawitter to start the closing program. Maureen Volle was invited to the stage to sing Pastor’s Song. Her angelic voice along with the heart tugging lyrics thanking the pastors for all they do touched everyone present. After a few closing remarks, Ron Kari led everyone in a rousing rendition of Home on the Range, the unofficial anthem of the American West, followed by plenty of cake and fellowship for all.
In Pastor Ron Gannett’s words, “It was a grand day for the whole church. Just being together to enjoy each other will make the difference in so many lives.”
The Community Church at SaddleBrooke meets every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the DesertView Theatre. We are an all denominational Christian Church and all are welcome.
