Young Life Capernaum, a ministry to high school and college age people with special needs, is a ministry supported by Community Church at SaddleBrooke. Capernaum is hosting a fundraising event to support the ministry’s daily and weekly events and to help leaders and participants go to a camp specially geared to serving teens and young adults with special needs.
The Double Dip Barbeque, Flea Market and Auction will be held October 25, 2015, at the Journey Church, 4700 N. Swan Road from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers are looking for items to be donated for this event to help raise funds. Proceeds from the event will be used to train club leaders and volunteers as well as purchase program materials and equipment for their monthly meetings and their summer camp. These monies will give young people with disabilities a chance to experience fun and friendships while learning about Christ’s unconditional love. Suggested items for donation include flea market items in good condition, new items for the silent auction such as art, pottery, ceramics, sports tickets, entertainment tickets, restaurant gift cards, vacation spots, spas, jewelry and home decoration items. Young Life is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization.
SaddleBrooke residents and their friends are invited to attend the event. Each family attending is asked to bring a side dish that serves 10 to share during dinner. Barbeque is available for $5 per person or $20 per family. Tickets for the flea market treasure hunt go on sale at 3:00 p.m. and the silent auction also begins at 3:00 p.m. The flea market treasure hunt and the silent auction will end at 5:00 p.m. followed by a live auction.
