Coffee and cookies in the basement

Patty Elliott

Those who are familiar with Garrison Keeler and his Prairie Home Companion tales know that coffee and cookies in the church basement are required when the service ends. For the folks who attend Resurrection Church at SaddleBrooke, however, our church has no basement. In fact, our church services are held in a ballroom (the Vermilion Room) at SaddleBrooke One.

Thanks to SaddleBrooke One’s General Manager, Vivian Timian, and her staff the basement problem has been solved. After both the 8:30 and 10:00 Sunday morning services the first Sunday of each month, SaddleBrooke Ones’s Javelina Room is converted into a comfortable area where church attendees are able to enjoy coffee, cookies, and conversation.

With a vibrant, growing congregation like Resurrection, it is important for worshippers to have time to develop relationships with others in the church. Coffee and Cookie Sunday is one of several ways the church addresses this issue along with patio parties and potluck dinners.

All are welcome to worship at Resurrection at SaddleBrooke, a traditional all denominational gathering of Christian believers. And if you visit with us on the first Sunday of the month, you’ll be able to enjoy a freshly baked cookie, hot coffee and good conversation with friends and neighbors from our SaddleBrooke communities.
