Clogging – a funny name for a great dancing style. If you’ve ever wanted to learn to clog, now is your chance. I am starting beginning classes on Tuesday, October 11, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Room No. 3 in the Arts and Crafts Building at HOA 1. You are welcome to join anytime in the first month. After that it will be difficult to catch up. A friend of mine once said, “If you want to learn to clog, just show up for the class.” Clogging is done to mostly country western and bluegrass music with a little pop music thrown in. We wear clogging taps on our shoes and get to make lots of noise and yell “Yee Haw” whenever it feels right.
I’ve been clogging and teaching for 20 years! I continue to love it and have shared my love of it with many SaddleBrooke residents. We start out very slowly and before the first class is over you will be clogging. Every step is called, like in square dancing, so you don’t have to memorize a whole dance and you don’t need a partner. Several students have said it is very joyful dancing and I agree. Men and women are welcome and we’ll talk about the shoes at the first class. If this is something that sounds like fun, please send me an email at [email protected] or call me at 520-825-8568. This will reserve your place in the class.
Start practicing your “Yee Haws” and sign up for some fun exercise and dancing. We like to say that “we clog so our arteries won’t!”
