SaddleBrooke’s own Pat Webb was the featured speaker at the Resurrection Church December Men’s Breakfast. A native of Minnesota and a pharmacy graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo, Pat went on to serve 20 years in the U.S. Army. After 10 years as a pharmacy and medical logistics officer, Pat earned a master’s degree in hospital administration from Baylor University. He eventually attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as the Inspector General, Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Colorado. After retirement from the Army, Pat became a partner in a group of pharmacies in Denver and finished out his career in that capacity.
His well-received talk, Pharmacy Now and Then, was both serious and humorous as Pat traced his experiences from being a stock boy in a hometown pharmacy in the 50s to the much more complex pharmacy world of today. Among many topics, he discussed drug side effects and interactions and advised the group of the wisdom of keeping your pharmacist and doctors up to date on all medications you are taking.
The Men’s Breakfasts are held at the main campus in Oro Valley on the first Saturday of the month, October through May. They begin at 7:30 a.m. and provide fellowship as well as the opportunity to hear a presentation on a topic of interest. The breakfasts are always well attended and right at 50 were there in December. Sixteen of those present were from SaddleBrooke.
There are five members on the committee that organize and plan the breakfasts. Al Toensing, the “Dean” of the group, is a SaddleBrooke resident as are Duane Hartzler and Gary Zellenger. The other two are Ron McNutt and Gary Shepherd. The next breakfast will be February 4 and will feature representatives from Youth On Their Own, an organization Resurrection Church supports. Any SaddleBrooke resident interested in attending should contact Al, Duane or Gary. You do not need to be a church member to attend.
Resurrection Church holds its all-denominational Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. in the Vermilion Room at the HOA 1 Clubhouse. All are welcome.
