Barbara Johnson
A lot of SaddleBrooke residents recognize Charlotte James from many different perspectives: she organizes events such as Trivia Night and Ladies’ Day Out; she loads the buses for events outside of SaddleBrooke and she is a very active member of the SaddleBrooke Lady Niners. It is in this last capacity that she has been chosen by the Arizona Women’s Golf Association as the 2015 AWGA Representative of the Year. With over 23,500 members, the AWGA is the second largest women’s golf association in the country. Charlotte has been our representative in this organization for several years.
Since Charlotte joined the SaddleBrooke Lady Niners in 2008, she has been an invaluable asset to the organization. She has served as treasurer for two years and, at the completion of 2016, the tournament chair for four years. She has been on our Tee Off Against Cancer committee in 2010 and 2011 and organized a Mix and Mingle Event in 2011 and 2012. In 2014 and 2015 she organized the 9ers Unite event, where our ladies pair up with our 9-hole Men’s League. She has taken the Handicap and Rules training Seminar and takes over for our Handicap Chair whenever necessary. As our AWGA Rep she makes sure all members have the AWGA Directory as well as the Rule Book and she keeps us well informed of all AWGA news and updates. So as you can see, she is not only an outstanding Rep for our club, but she is fully committed to making our League the best it can be. Congratulations, Charlotte – it will be an honor to accompany you when you receive your award in January!
