Each Spring SaddleBrooke hiking club honors a very special member of the club with the highest distinction given by the club, its trailblazer award. This award started ten years ago in 2016 by then-president, Randy Parks. To date, 19 members have received the honor of being named a SBHC “Trailblazer.” The hiking club board at the February meeting voted to name Jeff Love the 20th member to receive this award. The criteria for this award are as follows:

For meritorious service above and beyond simply being a member of the hiking club, for performing duties greater than expected, and for exhibiting leadership that we all admire.

Why Jeff? Jeff’s dedication to the club since 2021 has been nothing short of tireless. His contributions include:

Served on the trip committee from May 2022 to December 2024. During this time, he organized hiking during the Club’s successful trip to Silver City, N.M.

Served on the board of directors as associate chief guide from April 2022 to April 2023 and as senior chief guide from April 2023 to April 2024.

Served the club as a guide starting in January 2021 to present.

Served on the picnic committee starting March 2022 to present.

Jeff now joins the elite group of 19 previous honorees who have shaped the SBHC into the vibrant club it is today.

Take a Look: The next time you are at the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse, stop by the Trailblazer plaque located at the foot of the stairs next to the elevator to see Jeff’s name among our club’s finest.

Congratulations, Jeff, and thank you for your admirable leadership!
