Two outstanding seniors from Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, Cooper Barghols and Cody Cropp, were named winners of the Elks National Foundation’s (ENF) Most Valuable Student Scholarship at a Catalina Mountain Elks Lodge No. 2815 National Youth Week Program on May 7, 2016. The scholarships are awarded to top high school graduates across the country based upon their academic achievements, leadership skills, extracurricular activities and their participation in community services.
Cooper Barghols, who received a $4,000 national scholarship, will attend Southern Methodist University. State award winner, Cody Cropp, received a $1,570 scholarship and will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Rebecca Gacha-Macvicar, Suzannah Whitlatch and Rebecca Woods-Lubbert each received $1,000 scholarships from the Catalina Mountain Elks Past Exalted Rulers Association. These scholarships are awarded to students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree or post-secondary vocational/technical certification and have completed one grading period of study.
Additional awards were presented to youth who participated in sports and academic contests sponsored by Catalina Mountain Elks Youth Programs over the past year.
