As over sixty graceful, energetic and elegantly dressed dancers arrived at the Let’s Dance Club’s annual gala in late April, they were transported to an evening in Paris – SaddleBrooke style. The lights were low, the music was decidedly French, the Eiffel Tower and cherry blossoms adorned each table. Cocktails and a banquet style dinner were served. After dinner the attendees took to the floor to dance to music provided by Steve’s Super Tunes. The professional dance team of Alan Daughenbaugh and Leslie Eisele performed a spotlight dance—a beautiful waltz—and received enthusiastic applause from the spectators. After this performance the dancers returned to the floor to dance the night (SaddleBrooke night, that is) away.
This gala is part of the extensive activities of the Let’s Dance Club. These activities include ballroom dance lessons taught by experienced dancers who are members of the club. The lessons take place September through May. Most lessons are taught Wednesday mornings, 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Vermilion Room of the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse.
In addition to the lessons, practice sessions are available on Saturday mornings, 10:00 a.m. to noon. There will be no lessons given in June, July or August but the Vermilion Room will be available for practice sessions on Wednesday and Saturday mornings during these three months. DJ’s will be available during the Saturday sessions. More information about the Let’s Dance Club and the schedule of classes and events is available at [email protected] or 825-5401.
The Let’s Dance Club and SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club have a combined membership fee of $10 per person per year. Membership gives you access to the activities of both clubs. Updated information is available on our Facebook page – Let’s Dance Club of SaddleBrooke.
