A Landmark Numismatic Chronicle of American Liberty

Sharon Erwin

To commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary, the U.S. Mint has issued an extensive range of coins and medals honoring influential people, historic events and American ideals that have been significant since our nation’s founding. Perhaps you have already seen some of these new coins, featuring a new face on both the obverse (or heads) and reverse (tails) in your change?

Throughout history, major events have driven changes in coins and currency. Are you curious about how coins and currency changes have reflected historical events? Then we suggest you come and check out the SaddleBrooke Coin Club which features an educational talk at each meeting. The SaddleBrooke Coin Club has been helping to expand numismatic knowledge among residents since it was established here in 2010. The Club meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month (except June, July, and Aug.) from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mesquite Building, Catalina Room, located at 38691 S. Mountain View Blvd. Guests and SaddleBrooke residents are always welcome at our meetings.

The next meeting of the SaddleBrooke Coin Club will be on Thursday, Sept. 10. Our guest speaker will be Peter Spooner, who will be discussing Cryptocurrency. Peter is a well-known numismatist and the owner of Arizona Coins and Collectibles, with over 45 years of experience helping people with their collections. Peter has vast expertise, is a popular speaker and the author of the Arizona Trade Tokens: Arizona Trade Tokens and Scrip for Collectors.  This catalogue is a comprehensive guide for collectors of Arizona tokens and scrip, covering themes, rarity, numbering, abbreviations, dating, pricing and more.
