Who doesn’t like to get together to drink some home-brewed beer? First, we had to play some doubles to work up a thirst, and that is exactly what we did, despite the wind! This get-together was in honor of Richard Wantuck who will be moving from SaddleBrooke on May 29.
Randy Zimmerman organized four courts of 16 players on April 18 at the SaddleBrooke One courts. They were mostly the regular players in his group. Those players who were on the injured list showed up afterwards to share some stories, eat some snacks, and drink some home-brewed beer made by Randy Zimmerman and Brian Hand.
After living here for about 14 years, Richard and his wife Joyce decided it was time to move to Lincoln, Neb., to be near their daughter, her husband, and their two grandchildren. They were both avid tennis players in our club for many years and were co-chairs for our Club Championships for two of those years. Unfortunately, Joyce had some injuries that kept her from continuing to play tennis, but Richard plays several times a week, including Mixed OP on Saturdays. He will pursue his passion of tennis once he gets settled in their new house in Lincoln. They certainly will both be missed!
