On Tuesday, July 5 Matt Kambic increased the number of hole-in-ones made by MPMGA members this year to thirteen. Almost unbelievable! Congratulations, Matt! You must still be riding high.
Matt was playing with his regular group this Tuesday at SaddleBrooke Ranch and by his own admission he was fighting a little angst when he approached the second tee. He had just double bogeyed the first hole and knew that his next shot would be a challenge. His group was playing from the Pine Tees and he selected his six iron for a shot that measured about 192 yards. Matt knew he had made good contact and that his direction was spot on but he had no idea that his ball had found the bottom of the cup; must have something to do with old eyes. Once on the green Matt and his playing partners Jon Michels and George Kaplan quickly learned that Matt’s ball was resting smartly in the hole. Great shot! Congratulations on number two! You have our permission to savor the moment and forget about all those other double bogeys.
Matt grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and began his golfing and caddying career at the age of twelve. Golf has been high on Matt’s list for almost fifty years but since he and Patty found SaddleBrooke and Unit 49 about three years ago it has moved to the top.
