Habitat for Humanity of Tucson came to SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club and shared its ongoing mission to create a more just and compassionate world by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat Tucson offers an innovative solution to the crisis of substandard housing by offering hardworking, local families a hand up, not a handout. Habitat Tucson partners with families, individuals, seniors and veterans to build or improve a place to call home, thereby building strength, stability and self-reliance through our neighbors. Habitat Tucson homes are not free – partner families are asked to complete 250 sweat equity hours, attend financial literacy courses, save for a down payment and ultimately purchase their homes with an affordable zero-interest mortgage. In 2016 Habitat Tucson dedicated its 400th home to a hardworking, local family. This year marks Habitat Tucson’s 35th year of building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in southern Arizona.
