Ninety members of the SaddleBrooke Hiking Club had an enjoyable time at the annual spring picnic held at the YMCA’s Triangle Y Ranch in Oracle on April 15.
Prior to a business meeting, many members hiked the American Flag Trail or took a tour of High Jinks Ranch. The meeting, conducted by club President Larry Allen, included the election of two new officers: Tim Butler, secretary and Dave Sorenson, associate chief guide. Continuing as officers along with Allen are Dianne Ashby, vice-president, Melissa Simpson, treasurer and Susan Hollis, senior chief guide.
A catered lunch was served and featured BBQ beef sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad and cookies. Credit for the successful event goes to the picnic committee that did a wonderful job organizing the event.
Committee mentor Martha Hackworth commented, “Take six new and fairly new young, energetic, enthusiastic, exceptional women, add one husband who volunteered to track down the best food in Tucson, stir gently and you have our Picnic Committee. Nothing is out of the question when this group gets together.”
