A message from LOVAR
Rescue is more than saving an animal in a moment of crisis—it is a lifelong promise.
Lifeline Oro Valley Animal Rescue (LOVAR) focuses on special-needs animals: seniors, the sick, traumatized, and those who may need a long-term or permanent sanctuary. These animals often require more time, medical care, and resources than traditional rescue funding supports.
Champion was one of them.
He was rescued from a high-kill shelter with less than an hour to live. He arrived with severe skin disease, damaged eyes, and a history of neglect. After his needs were not met in another placement, Champion moved into our Director’s home, where he remained for the next nine years.
Champion welcomed new rescue animals with quiet kindness. Though he loved collecting toys, he would often offer one to a hospice dog—as if to say, “you are safe, you are loved”.
In his final years, Champion developed seizures, suffered a stroke, lost much of his vision, and needed extensive medical and hands-on care. Through every challenge, he remained family.

Champion was called home three weeks ago. He is deeply missed. His life reflects what responsible rescue truly means: not only saving a life but honoring a lifelong commitment.

Our various pet charities are always in need and are always thankful for your donations. Please consider dropping off only pet related items in clean, gently used condition. Items such as pet crates, which are broken down, bowls, and large towels. Cash donations are always appreciated. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, so a receipt is available upon request.
We always need pet food. If opened, please label the brand, type of food, and the expiration date.
We Do Not Accept Empty Rx Bottles.
We cannot accept poly–fil items such as pillows as they present a choking hazard. We are not accepting cat trees. We cannot accept mattress pads, mattress covers, bedspreads, or rubber backed rugs. We are not accepting sheets or blankets at this time. Any items accepted are at the discretion of the volunteers.
Please do not leave items unless volunteers are present.
Please drive slowly and watch for our volunteers at the cones!

Wags and Walkers Seeking Donations for Upcoming I Don’t Want It Sale
Thanks to the support of our wonderful SaddleBrooke neighbors, Wags and Walkers was able to donate over $2,800 from the proceeds of our 2025 I Don’t Want It Sale for equipment and supplies for Pima Animal Care Center’s new Eastside Adoption Center funded by Friends of PACC.
We are very grateful for your continuing enthusiastic support for this annual fundraiser.
We are gearing up to collect donations for the 2026 I Don’t Want It Sale. This year’s sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 7 to 11 a.m. Wags and Walkers will again be attending with our “For Pet’s Sake Boutique”. We are looking for donations only of gently-used jewelry, scarves, purses and accessories.
You may drop off your donations at:
* 63457 E. Squash Blossom Lane inside the wall under the ramada between the casita and the house.
* No need to ring the doorbell or knock on the door please.
* Please drop off donations no later than Friday, Oct. 2.

Millions for Tucson Raffle
In May, a mother dog and her older puppy were rescued with the help of SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) near the entrance to The Preserve. She appeared to have been abandoned on the road. SBPRN found a foster willing to take in both mama and her puppy. What a surprise we received when the next day she gave birth to a litter of 8 new puppies!! The foster family went above and beyond keeping the mama and all her puppies safe as we looked for permanent homes for all of them. We are happy to celebrate that “furever” homes were found for each and every one!! SBPRN provided all monetary needs for food and vet bills in order to save these wonderful dogs.
SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network was so happy to have helped make this a happily ever after story! You can help too! We are once again participating in the Millions for Tucson Raffle. This raffle supports 501(c)(3) organizations based here in Southern Arizona.
Participating organizations retain all proceeds from ticket sales. The prizes are provided by Jim Click.
