For many reasons, Pinal County public schools have an average third grade math proficiency score of 20%, which is significantly lower than the Arizona statewide average of 34%. Overall, this puts Arizona in 45th place for math according to NationsReportCard.gov. Holy cow!
Peak math scores were recorded in 2019 and have never recovered. Over the past five years, third grade math scores have only shown modest improvement. I know we can do better.
To show support for our community where it really matters—the kids—we’re kicking off a third and fourth grade math tutoring program this fall at Mountain Vista School in Oracle. The details are under development so you can still get in on the ground floor and help design the program with the new principal.
SaddleBrooke tutors are already active in the second and third grade reading program at Mountain Vista. This spring’s program was a rousing success and is slated to double in size in the fall. We envision the same impact from the math tutoring program.
They want more of what SaddleBrooke has to offer: knowledge, skills, and experience. And what can be more exciting than multiplication tables! Really.
You’ve lived a good life so far. Isn’t it time to share your blessings with local Pinal kids? Come out and strengthen them at this critical stage of development. The future depends on it.
