Your Questions Answered by a Little White Dog with Big Opinions
Emma, a little white dog who lives in SaddleBrooke
Hi Saddlebrooke Progress friends! I’m Emma, your cheerful little white dog in SaddleBrooke. In this column, I share a dog’s-eye view on life by answering thoughtful questions with kindness, gentle humor, and a bit of tail-wagging wisdom.
You can follow more of my adventures and photos on my blog, Life With Emma in the Desert, at emmathewhitedog.com.
One Year of Paws-pective: Older, Wiser, and Still Just as Fluffy!
Can you believe it? It’s been a whole year since I first put paw to paper. Back then, I was just a little cloud on four legs with a few stories to tell. Now? I’m practically a local celebrity! While the desert stays the same, my circle of friends just keeps growing.
The Morning Hustle
Our 7 a.m. routine is still the highlight of my day, though Dad has added a “plot twist.” We’re walking longer distances now to stay healthy and lose a bit of “fluff.” Personally, I think my fluff is aerodynamic, but I don’t mind the extra time on the golf course paths. The mountains still turn that beautiful gold, and the extra steps mean more time to investigate the latest desert news with my nose.
I still see my original crew—Boo, Polly, Monty, Teddy, and Jax—but I’ve welcomed new faces like Piper, Archie, Ozzy, Javier, Max and Cody. Meeting them makes the extra-long walks feel like a party instead of a workout!
The Clubhouse “Paparazzi”
Around noon, we hop into my chariot (the golf cart) and cruise over to the SaddleBrooke One clubhouse. This is where things have really changed! Instead of just getting compliments on my haircut, people actually stop us because they recognize me from the newspaper!
It’s so much fun meeting neighbors who read my column. I try to stay humble, but when someone asks, “Are you Emma from the paper?” my tail starts going like a helicopter blade. If you see us, don’t be shy—I’m always open for a head scratch.
Sunset Socials
As the sky turns pink and purple, the evening social hour is better than ever. I still run into the “old guard” like Oliver, Mimi, and Chloe, but the neighborhood is buzzing with new energy from Molly, Oscar, Tucker, and Paloma. Whether we’re racing through the grass or comparing notes on where the best squirrels live, these friends make the end of every day feel special.
Emma’s Year-Two Wisdom
Looking back, I’ve learned that life isn’t just about the routine; it’s about the people (and pups) you meet along the way. Whether we’re walking further to stay fit or chatting with a new reader, every moment is a chance to connect. I’ve loved sharing my thoughts with you this past year, and I’m so excited for Year Two.
Stay happy, stay curious, and remember—if you’re feeling a little “flat,” just go for a ride with the wind in your fur. It works every time!
Tail-waggingly yours,
Emma
