The British Club gathered on the afternoon of Feb. 18 at Canyon’s Crown Restaurant and Pub for a lively and laughter-filled get-together in true British fashion.Twenty-seven members attended, with new faces warmly welcomed and longstanding members enthusiastically joining in the fun.
The room buzzed with animated conversation as everyone took part in icebreaker questions designed to spark debate and nostalgia. Friendly rivalries emerged over Britain’s favorite soaps—Coronation Street or EastEnders–and whether one’s allegiance lies with Doctor Who or Sherlock Holmes.
Beyond television, members enthusiastically discussed British politics, the state of the football season, the excitement of the FA Cup, and—as always—the ever-predictable topic of British weather.
Guests enjoyed classic British fare including Guinness pie and traditional fish and chips, all accompanied by plenty of ale. The afternoon was a wonderful celebration of shared heritage, spirited debate, and warm camaraderie—a little slice of Britain right here in Tucson.
Everyone thanked Nigel Hawkins,Helen Amelsberg, and Helen’s Social Committee for organizing another fun event for the British Club. Thank you also, Helen, for writing this article, and for Andree taking the photo for the British Club Newsletter, SaddleBrooke Progress, SaddleBrooke Ranch Roundup and Saddlebag Notes.
