Enjoying the Company of Friends

Dee Berisha

By choice or by circumstance, the women of WOOO (Women On Our Own) have found that there are events in life where solitude is welcome and enjoying one’s own company is empowering and peaceful. I can plan my own schedule; control my remote; knit, sew, paint, garden, or nap when the mood hits; see a movie that may tug at my heart; dive into that book on my coffee table or Kindle; talk on the phone as long as I wish; or plan a trip to visit a friend or family member. And when an activity or event crosses my path where the company of an acquaintance or friend would be welcome, a large membership of Women On Our Own in SaddleBrooke is just a phone call away.

Events that are not part of the numerous scheduled WOOO activities can pop up on the message board at any time—a member looking for company to share a new event. Such was the case of a SaddleBrooke One monthly Iron Chef event. Pat Rourke felt this event would be fun, so the message was sent out, and a group of WOOO women joined her in attending the January Iron Chef dinner in the SaddleBrooke One dining room. The chef’s planned menu was a delicious halibut dinner, which included appetizers, a beverage, and dessert! Our party of six enjoyed this feast, as well as the conversation and laughter.

So, if you are a single woman in SaddleBrooke who is not in a committed relationship, please consider joining WOOO. We are sure that you will find activities and/or events that interest you, as well as support and friendships. Contact our president Debbie Flato for a membership form at deblynne50@gmail.com or 520-818-2904. Our dues are $10 per year.

A note: Sadly, there are women in our SaddleBrooke community who are now caregivers to a spouse or partner, finding that their lives have become (somewhat) isolated. Please call Debbie Flato for information about how WOOO can help you in your journey.
