Debbie McGeehan, SaddleBrooke TWO Tennis Liaison
We have waited many years for courts 9, 10, and 11 to be transitioned to post tension. Elite Sports has done an excellent job on all of our courts in the past, and this is no exception. SaddleBrooke Tennis Club will now have 20 post tension courts that are in excellent condition. Post tension courts are a long-term investment and are more economical, as they require minimal maintenance. Painting is required every five years in order to maintain the warranty.
An Elite Sports spokesperson said they are very busy in Tucson. They do pickleball courts, basketball courts, sidewalks, and, of course, tennis courts. If you have not stopped by the MountainView courts, it has been quite a process, which began in mid-December. Trucks were subcontracted to pour the cement. The truck extensions were at least four stories high reaching into the tennis courts from the parking lot! The cement would pour through the extensions, and the workers wore high boots and would level it around the court as it came down the shoot. It looked like they were working in quicksand! I talked with one of the workers named Carlos who said he is the third generation working in this field.
The cement needs a few weeks to cure. When ready, the painting of the courts will then be completed with the tennis and POP lines. The nets and the other equipment will be put in place.
Be sure to thank our SaddleBrooke TWO Board of Directors and Bill McGinn, Director of Operations and Facilities, along with his staff. They have done an exceptional job keeping our tennis courts in top condition!
