“2026: The Future of NATO” will be presented on Wednesday, March 18, in the DesertView Theater at 3:45 p.m. The topic of this talk focuses on the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The U.S., EU, and NATO have aided Ukraine for four years, but achieving peace still evades all. Putin demands all-or-nothing terms, but the most dramatic revelation came recently with President Trump’s National Security Strategy (NSS) threats to take Greenland. This presentation will examine how the EU and NATO must adapt if the NSS is implemented as written and how Ukraine may fare as the war drags on.
Mark Schwartz is a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel with 1,550 flying hours. He graduated with a bachelor’s in political science from Ohio State University and ROTC distinguished graduate, and Mark added a master’s in history/World War II from Arizona State University. He has lectured for SaddleBrooke Lifelong Learning (ILR), Sun City ILR, World War II Roundtable, Pima Air Museum, and Utah State University’s Summer Citizen Program.
