Unit 2 Celebrates the Holidays in Style
Christianne Dettmann
Unit 2 residents found plenty of creative ways to enjoy the holidays with each other this past December! Whether by a fancy dinner and dancing, a casual cul-de-sac potluck, or simply “dropping the ball” (literally) on New Year’s Eve, good times were had by all!
The Vistas dining room in SaddleBrooke One did not disappoint with its delicious delicacies and excellent entertainment by Chuck Moses during the joint holiday party between Units 2, 18, and 19 in mid-December. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to dress up and socialize!
On Christmas Eve, even though rain squelched plans for live piano entertainment, last-minute genius-thinking kept this potluck event alive by moving it inside the garage of one of the cul-de-sac homes. More than 40 family members and friends came to chat, eat, and celebrate together, despite the foreboding weather.
The ever-popular “Drop the Ball” event on New Year’s Eve also had a strong showing of about two dozen people, despite the encore of rainy weather just one week after the Christmas Eve celebration. Neighbors dropped in for the countdown(s) of their choice and rang in the new year with snacks and smiles.
All in all, Unit 2 is grateful for such fantastic friends and neighbors. We are glad to call SaddleBrooke “home” and wish a prosperous 2026 to everyone in this great community!
Unit 15 Celebrates the Season with a Festive Christmas Party
Kelli Beasley
Unit 15 residents gathered to celebrate the holidays at a fun-filled Christmas party that brought together 50 neighbors for an evening of food, laughter, and giving. Guests contributed a delicious variety of appetizers, while the unit provided a 12-foot party sub sandwich, which was a huge hit with everyone.
Attendees were invited to bring a wrapped gift valued at $15 to take part in the lively “Cookies for Santa” gift exchange. The game kept everyone laughing as gifts changed hands, and by the end, everyone walked away with something different, except for good sport Jill Wilson who ended up with the gift she brought.
Raffle tickets were also popular throughout the event. The lucky winner split the pot with Unit 15, resulting in $80 for both the winner and the unit.
In the true spirit of the season, guests were encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit The Salvation Army Tucson, helping bring smiles to children on Christmas morning.
It was a wonderful celebration filled with generosity, community, and holiday cheer—proof that Unit 15 knows how to throw a great party!
Unit 21 Annual Meeting 2026
Dana Eckhardt
As every year starts, Unit 21 has an annual meeting to go over the upcoming events. Our fearless leader Jim Floerke enlightened us with all the things that are going on in and around our unit and community, beginning with the Unit Coordinating Committee: Jim, our Unit Rep; Bonnie Westra, who manages our email/communication system and unit phonebook; Silke Bender, our treasurer, who oversees all of our finances; Karen Pachis, our Welcome Wagon, who gets all new residents up and running; Barbara Donaldson, our Social chair, who helps to organize and recruit folks to lead our variety of activities; and Dana Eckhardt, our Communications chair, who makes sure all of our goings on are shared with all in various newspapers. Jim informed us that we added more than 20 new residents to our neighborhood. Please reach out and make them feel welcome.
The captain of this year’s annual Unit Food Drive, supporting the SaddleBrooke Community Outreach Food Drive, will be Nachel Felske, who nominated herself.
Jim also discussed Firewise, for which volunteers are needed; RUA; and the Creative Arts & Wellness Center Project. A huge thank you to the entire unit for their generosity in terms of money and hours of volunteering that went into the Holiday Adopt A Family project. It was a great success. We collected $7,425, and many families and children were positively impacted.
Thank you to all the volunteers who help make our unit as special as it is! Be on the lookout for all the upcoming events in your emails. You will not want to miss a one.
Unit 23 Mural Outing
Pat Reding
Despite the cool temperatures, on Jan. 11 Unit 23 was treated to a Mural Walk by Tom and Deb to learn about the many murals of Tucson. The walk is about 3.5 miles, and there are many murals, some from famous artists. As the day warmed up, the group enjoyed lunch at The Monica. A good time was had by all who joined.

Unit 46 Welcomes New Team
Denise Cashmore
Unit 46 is excited to welcome our new unit representative, Jim Bolme, and deputy unit representative, Kerry Griebenow. We also extend a warm welcome to Lori Bolme and Marian Griebenow as our new co-social chairs. As always, a huge thank you to everyone who supports our neighborly community with help, kindness, and laughter.
This year promises a host of engaging activities, including appetizer parties, restaurant outings, and some special events (rumor has it the Bolmes are quite accomplished bowlers, so a related outing may be in store!).
Our Divas kicked off the new year in style with a delightful lunch at The Preserve restaurant in January. Organized by Michelle Deal and Lynn Bershtel, the ladies took the opportunity to sincerely thank Cathie Siglow “for the two incredible years she organized the Diva Luncheons. She did a fantastic job and is greatly appreciated.”
The men will also continue their monthly Men’s Dinner and Drinks, with location and ride-sharing efficiently organized by Grant Stewart and Brian Komar. In January, they met up at La Hacienda Family Restaurant where the staff did a great job of accommodating the large group. The next Men’s Dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Bubb’s Grub Texas BBQ.
