The SaddleBrooke Swim Club dove into action at the Dolphins of the Desert Pentathlon on Sept. 28 at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center. With 48 entries spanning all age groups, our team brought home an impressive set of medals, personal bests, and spirited performances that showed why SaddleBrooke swimmers stand out.
Standout Swims
• Doug Springer (78) was unstoppable, sweeping five gold medals with commanding swims in the 50 Fly, 50 Breast, 50 Back, 100 IM, and 50 Free.
• Larry John (64) powered through the middle-distance events, winning the 200 Free, 100 Free, and 50 Free, plus a silver in the 50 Breast.
• Wendy Weinberg (80) added five more golds for SaddleBrooke, including top finishes in the 50 Breast, 50 Back, and 50 Free—a remarkable showcase of skill and endurance.
• Steven Willer (71) sprinted to victory in the 50 Fly and 50 Free, while also earning silvers in the 50 Breast and 50 Back.
• James Spiegel (77) scored second-place finishes across the board, including the 50 Fly, 50 Back, and 50 Free.
• Stacy Olson (61) and Allison Lehman (67) impressed in the distance events. Olson took bronze in the 1000, 200, and 500 Free, while Lehman claimed four silvers in the 1000, 200, 100, and 500 Free.
• Shawne Cryderman (72) grabbed gold in both the 100 Back and 50 Back, with strong swims in the freestyle events as well.
• Harry March (82) added to the medal haul with a win in the 50 Back, and Claude Wise (73) picked up multiple podium finishes, including bronze in the 50 Fly and 100 IM.
Other SaddleBrooke competitors—including Theresa Ashton (83), Samantha Martoni (63), Noelle Minck (66), and Stan Strebig (83)—rounded out the team effort, swimming with determination and spirit.
Team Energy
What set this meet apart wasn’t just the medals, but the team spirit on deck. Teammates cheered loudly, celebrated every finish, and embodied the camaraderie that makes Masters swimming so rewarding. From sprinters to distance specialists, our athletes proved that passion and perseverance make a winning combination.
Moving Forward
