Bridge Party Bulletin: Bids, Tricks, and Strategy

Susan Love

SaddleBrooke One Monday Bridge Club hosted a festive Welcome Back, Snowbirds, party after their game on Oct. 13. This event marked one of our biggest duplicate bridge competitions of the season, with players competing across nine and a half tables for top honors. Arlene and Jack Mayfield claimed the top spot in North/South, and Andrea and Stewart Dresch took first place in East/West.

Once our bridge director Bonni Newton tallied the final scores, the room’s competitive energy gave way to a relaxed and cheerful social hour. Players mingled and reconnected over a generous spread of appetizers, cake, spirits, and vintages.

The highlight of the post-game party was the eagerly anticipated prize drawing. Names were pulled from a basket, with four lucky winners—Diana Nicol, Vicki Palumbo, Sheila Tuhy, and Sharon Wyles—each received a free game play at an upcoming session.

A heartfelt thank you to Melanie Cohen and Sue Hagerty. Your hard work on the decorations, delicious food, and beverages played a key role in making the party a fantastic success. Special thanks also go to our club president Judy Landeck for her leadership and seamless coordination of the event. The SaddleBrooke One Activity Center was alive with laughter and conversation as new partnerships were formed and old friendships were rekindled.
