SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network – September 2025

Dave and Sue Swengold with Roadie

Happy Tail: The Newlyweds Have Started a Family

Romayne Trudo

Sue and Dave Swengold were recently married in May of 2025. Ready to settle into their new life together in SaddleBrooke, they decided it was time to add to their family. The timing was perfect for a Yorkie mix named Roadie. He was found as a stray in poor condition on July 8 near the Edwin Road entrance to SaddleBrooke. This shy, sweet boy stole everyone’s heart, especially Cindy and Mike who fostered him for SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network. Once Roadie had gained some weight and was neutered, microchipped, and groomed, he was ready for adoption. There were many wonderful individuals interested in adopting Roadie, but during the meet and greet sessions, Roadie selected Sue and Dave. SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network wishes this new family all the best and thanks them for giving Roadie the perfect home.

The Importance of Microchipping Your Pets

Romayne Trudo

Microchipping pets is a crucial step in responsible pet ownership, offering permanent identification that dramatically increases the chances of being reunited with a lost animal.

Benefits of microchipping include:

• Permanent, tamper-proof identification: Collars and tags can fall off or be removed.

• Increased reunion rates: 72% of lost microchipped pets are reunited with their families.

• Deterrence of theft: Provides indisputable proof of ownership.

• International travel compliance: Many countries require microchipping for pets entering their borders.

• Minimal discomfort and maintenance: The procedure is similar to a vaccination and lasts for the pet’s lifetime.

• Typical cost: $25 to $100, registered with the national database.

• Critical to keep your contact information updated in the database: Make this a priority if you move, change your name, or acquire a new phone number.

In summary, microchipping is a cost-effective, safe, and reliable way to protect your pet and give you peace of mind.
