The SaddleBrooke Genealogy Club is transitioning to workshop sessions, starting June 5, focusing on discussion groups from June through September. These workshops will cover topics from starting a family tree to specific research on ethnic backgrounds like Norwegian or Polish, with experienced members available for guidance. They will lead discussion groups and help with research techniques and methodology. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops and any data they may already possess. Guests are welcome to join and consider membership. More details can be found on the club’s website at sites.google.com/view/saddlebrookeazgenealogyclub.
The June 5 session will focus on “Where do I start?” and “Tell me a story.” It will be held in the SaddleBrooke One Coyote Room at 1 p.m.
• “Where do I start” is meant for those who are just beginning or renewing their quest for more information. The leader of the discussion will guide you through how to get started and where to begin.
• The “Tell me a story” group will consider the powerful message that stories of our families provide and how to seek them from family members and relatives, along with ways to document them.
However, we still welcome anyone interested in learning more about genealogy and the club in general. There will always be someone there to talk to you about any questions you may have.
Following June, the next three months will have similar topics during the meetings. These include ethnic subjects: Irish, Norwegian, and Polish. Organizing research and digitizing it. Finally, certification and verification of source information. Watch for more information on these schedules on our website.
