Joe Giammarino
The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) held their annual Membership Appreciation Happy Hour event on April 1 in the MountainView ballroom from 3 to 5 p.m. PPB founder Dominic “The Doctor” Borland was the Membership Appreciation Event Committee chairman and also master of ceremonies.
As the PPB members entered, they were presented with a PPB engraved commemorative ballpoint pen. More than 100 members and spouses attended. Dominic “The Doctor” Borland started the event by issuing a heartfelt welcome to our members and their spouses. He also introduced attending sponsors Leah Kari of Leah Kari Solutions and Dorothy Moore, Lauren Moore, and Jim Bilwacks of The Moore Advantage Group. Shannon Morgenstern, representing the Arizona Pain Care Center, appeared later in the event. Then Dominic introduced PPB President Dick “Pocket Blocker” Dunbar who delivered a welcome and more sponsor recognition. Next, founder and designated PPB historian Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino presented a PPB historical lesson followed by member volunteer tributes by PPB Vice President Phelps “Montana” L’Hommedieu. After all the oration, Fred “The Baker” Dianda and Rich “Hide the Salami” Adinolfi dished out some delicious Beef Wellington sliders, Swedish meatballs, and other delights to the attendees.
The PPB had raffle tickets available for purchase from Julie “Cutter” Ferguson and Diane Clary for a members-only raffle administered by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and PPB Secretary/Treasurer Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar. The raffle featured the Grand Prize McDermott RS12 cue stick with four shafts, a 2×4 case, and a billiards glove. In addition to the cue and case, there were numerous other prizes, which included a PPB logo jacket, a PPB logo cooler, a pool table jigsaw puzzle, nine gift cards, and last but not least, four almond torts by the PPB’s very own accomplished cueist with a confection problem, Fred “The Baker” Dianda.
The Grand Prize winner was Christine “Tutti Fluti” Smith who seems to be luckier than most, as this was the second cue stick she has won in PPB raffles! Congrats, Christine!
