The semi-annual Saguaro Cup tournament between the SaddleBrooke Men’s Putters and the Highlands at Dove Mountain Men’s Putters was held on Nov. 21 at the SaddleBrooke One main putting green. The Highlands team was at the top of their form and made quick work of the challenging and fast course laid out by the Saddleback men, keeping the cup for another six months with a score of 316 to 327. The Highlands team consisted of Karl Piepho, Steve Morrison, Don Cook, Ralph Caviani, Steve Palermo, Walt Gasser, Bob Hudson, and Larry Miller. The SaddleBrooke team consisted of Dan Cavanagh, Bruce Stead, Mark Denholm, Nick Mares, Larry Kraber, Ron McNutt, John Thompson, and Scott Baker. The next tournament will be held in April.

Practice your putting once a week during a congenial competition with other guys. Putt every Thursday morning (10 a.m. winter, 9 a.m. summer) on the main SaddleBrooke putting green. We putt 18 holes with par 36 and use handicaps to even out the random teams competing for prizes ($3, $2, $1) and have individual gross and net prizes ($5, $3, $1). Pay $1 to putt each week with a $20 membership fee. Try it by putting as a guest for free. Just show up Thursday morning about 15 minutes early.
