SaddleBrooke TWO Welcomes New Head Golf Professional Wayne Clark

Jim Grosjean

In September the SaddleBrooke TWO community welcomed Wayne Clark to our golf family as head golf professional. He will work directly under Director of Golf Mike Karpe and will divide his time between The Preserve and MountainView until the staff is completed with new assistant professionals.

Mike and Wayne hit it off together upon their first meeting, and Wayne views his position as primarily helping Mike, who has been way too busy since Matt Hudson left. Wayne is the quintessential people person who enjoys nothing more than teaching and helping golfers improve, running tournaments, and, as time allows, getting on course with the members. He hopes that when the staff is complete, plans can go towards providing enriching and fun experiences for the members, such as player development programs and sip and swing events. He loves interaction with the members and is working hard to learn everyone’s names.

Clark began his golf career at his local golf club in Snohomish, Wash., at the age of 13 picking range balls. Two years later, he was working behind the counter, and after a self-described mediocre college golf career at the University of Washington, he landed back at Snohomish Golf Course as an assistant pro. He next became general manager of a brand-new course on the Canadian border called Homestead. After a stint playing the mini tours in Florida, he worked at Aspen Lakes in Central Oregon and then as head pro at the 500 Club in Glendale, Ariz. He spent another five years working for a large HOA in California before hooking up with the Troon Corporation, managing courses in the Seattle area. Circumstances brought Wayne to Tucson in February of 2024, but he soon took a short-term position managing a course in Utah for the summer. Obviously, he jumped at the chance to reunite with his wife and dog by taking the job in SaddleBrooke.

Wayne is thrilled to be here and is looking forward to building relationships with all the members and staff. Be sure to introduce yourself the next time you stop in the Golf Shop!
