The SaddleBrooke Cornhole Club celebrated their successful Grand Opening at the DesertView complex on Nov. 1. Snacks, cookies, hot dogs, and drinks were served to existing members, new members, and the curious. We had a sunny day filled with music, fun, lessons, and games. Club members were able to order T-shirts, gaze at our new facility, and throw bags. Club bags are restricted to members only. Come see our new 10 courts and boards located just behind the DesertView Theater, and we hope you will want to join the fun.
Our next big event is Grandkids Day on Nov. 29, with snacks, lessons, and games being provided from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The courts will remain open after 2 p.m. for the kiddos to play, but no lessons will be provided. Do you remember throwing bean bags in your backyard when you were a kid? Join the fun with the grandkids and toss some bags! Please remember to wear athletic, rubber-soled shoes to protect our courts.
These 10 new courts are currently open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. until we are able to provide lighting on the courts. Court reservations are scheduled online on our website at sbchc.clubexpress.com. Find more information about the club at this same website.
So, how do you play cornhole? Players throw fabric bean bags onto a cornhole board with the goal of scoring three points by throwing it in the hole. A bag on the board or hanging over the hole scores one point. The game ends when 21 points are reached. Three different throw lines are painted on the surface to accommodate all levels of ability in order to maintain the club’s mission to have fun and be inclusive.
Our current membership stands at approximately 300 members. The facility will be available for tournaments, lessons, and unit parties in the future.
