When October arrives, SaddleBrooke Paper Crafters are not thinking about Halloween or any of the other holidays that occur during the month. Their thoughts turn to World Card Making Day (WCMD). Yes, it is a special day for paper crafters, and it is honored by our club here in SaddleBrooke.
WCMD is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of October. It began in 2006 and was created by PaperCrafter magazine to encourage crafters to get a head start on their holiday card making. Initially, it was advertised only for subscribers of the magazine, but to their surprise, World Card Making Day went viral and it is now celebrated by card makers all over the world.
On Oct. 5 we met to celebrate and to make cards, which were designed with supplies provided by a group of volunteers from our club. This year, Joyce Sutay was chair of the WCMD Committee, which included Carol Thompson, Holly Konecny, Marian Stoleson, Angela Stokes, and Gail Robson. In order to accommodate as many participants as possible, members signed up for one of the two sessions offered. The same cards were made at each session, and committee members led the groups.
World Card Making Day is always a fun event for members of SaddleBrooke Paper Crafters who share the joy, accomplishment, and camaraderie that paper crafting offers.
