Revenge Is Served by the Greenskeepers

Ret Convey

Brace yourselves, ladies. It’s that time of year again!

As summer draws to a close and we find ourselves distracted thinking of our northern pals who will soon reappear, we fail to keep an eye on our greenskeepers who are busily scheming and plotting their revenge against us.

All year long, we sing their praises while simultaneously mangling and mashing the fairways they so lovingly tend. Our talented and good-natured greenskeepers seem undisturbed at these abuses, but don’t be fooled for a second: They intend to get us back!

The one-day, 9-hole Superintendent’s Revenge tournament in late September provides them with their opportunity, and they intend to make the most of it! This annual event is definitely not for the faint of heart (or those with a limited sense of humor).

It is a true test of whatever golf skills we mistakenly think we have as we face the wild challenges placed before us on every hole. If you think you’re a match for a green with 100 little flags or gigantic boulders or machinery dotting the fairway, our hats are off to you.

Sign up for the fun Superintendent’s Revenge tournament, and you’ll come away with a big dose of reality!

Congratulations go out to Brenda Brown, who scored an 89 to walk away with the August Ace honor, and our net Ace Winner, Suzanne Stone-Griffith, with a score of 71. Great job, ladies, and good luck in the upcoming Ace of Aces tournament.

Our favorite Lagos tournament is just around the corner, so be sure to sign up for your spot so you don’t miss out on the fun. This year, the Niners are hosting, and we look forward to a great day with them.

That’s all for now. Enjoy this cooler weather!
