Our trumpet player John Reitz turns 100 on Aug. 7, 2024!

At our Fall Concert on Sept. 28 at DesertView Performing Arts Center, we will be performing “Century Overture,” a piece commissioned in honor of John. The piece is inspired by musical references from the year John was born. Other pieces on the program include “My Romance,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Fanfare for the Common Man,” “Porgy and Bess,” and more. And, of course, our popular music director Jesus Jacquez will be conducting!

Tickets are now on sale at DVPAC.net.

SaddleBrooke Winds and Strings (SBWS) performed with the Tucson New Horizons Band (TNHB) in a “Blending of the Bands” concert at Crowder Hall on July 21. TNHB played five pieces that they had rehearsed, followed by SBWS who played four pieces they had rehearsed. Then, together as one big band, they played two pieces that each band had rehearsed on their own and together only once the week before. Their respective conductors each conducted the big band on one of the two joint pieces. What a sound!
