Debbie McGeehan
Marty looks as fit as a fiddle and definitely does not look or act his young age of 90! That’s probably because he has played tennis most of his life, starting at seven years old, and he makes a habit of going to the Fitness Center.
Marty has been a member of the SaddleBrooke Tennis Club since moving here with his wife Suzanne in 2005. He grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he played tennis on the cement courts. He moved around on the East Coast as the years progressed for work and some military service, not always having easy access to tennis. When he moved to Southern California, he was delighted because he could get a pickup game at the many courts throughout the area. Life became even better when he moved to SaddleBrooke! Marty plays tennis three times a week and keeps up with the “young ones”! He says his goal is to live and play tennis until 100 years old!
I personally know that is a possibility, as I see Marty and Suzanne at the SaddleBrooke TWO Fitness Center. I believe they rarely miss a late afternoon workout! I’m sure they motivate each other to stay healthy and keep moving.
Darrell Jackson said, “If you ever play tennis with Marty, you better be aware of his wicked cross-court return!” Jay Clary said, “He is an inspiration to all of us and one of our best players of any age.”
As Vic Braden said, “Laugh and win, laugh and lose, laugh and learn, and hit the ball six feet over the net.” Our club is what we make it, so let’s make it fun like Marty!
