This month, I’m introducing the newest member of the Arizona Heroes Memorial (AHM) community—our drone! AHM Executive Board Member, Pat Johnston, is learning to fly our DJI Pro Series 4 Drone.
Our drone can often be seen high above the construction site. It reaches heights of 5,500 feet and is able to capture a radius of 12 miles at a speed of 25 mph. We are archiving all aspects of this soon-to-be Arizona landmark to preserve the development and history from the Memorial’s inception. Documentation of the build is, by far, the most enjoyable part to date. We’re watching the talents and efforts of many dedicated people culminate in the values inspired by the Memorial itself.
Please go to our YouTube channel and check out our drone videos to date (@AHMCommunity) or find uploads on our website (azheroesmemorial.org). In addition to the changing scenery in Naranja Park, you’ll be able to see the creation of the Legacy Garden that houses the Forever Bricks. Forever Bricks are still available to honor your hero (bricksrus.com/donorsite/arizonaheroesmemorialinc). So, if you find yourself in Oro Valley, look up—you may see Pat circling the sky!
