How do you eclipse a solar eclipse? The SaddleBrooke 18-holers did it by holding their annual Quail Classic, a member/guest three-day event, playing while the eclipse was happening (fully equipped with special eclipse-viewing safety glasses). Though it was a beautiful, sunny day, we all began to notice the effects of the eclipse when the wind picked up and the air became chilled. Did it affect our play? Maybe. Did it affect our fun? Not at all!
One hundred twenty-eight women from widespread home areas participated in the 2024 Quail Classic Olympiad, beginning with a festive dinner in the Vistas Dining Room and followed by two days of play, each with a different format. Luncheons followed play. Some of the creative women in the group dressed for the occasion. Everyone took advantage of generous discounts in the Pro Shop, and the very competent golf staff kept everything running smoothly in the shop and on the fairways and greens, which were in fabulous condition. The event was chaired by Mary Ribacchi and Chris Crum who spent months coordinating every last detail. Thanks to all!
On May 6 and 7 we had our annual Member-Member Tournament, a two-day eclectic format. SBWGA also participated in our Catalina Cup, a competition between all three of the SaddleBrooke Women’s Golf organizations: Mountainview/Preserve, SaddleBrooke Ranch, and SaddleBrooke. This year’s event was hosted by the Ranch.
