SaddleBrooke Woodworkers Club had a very impressive display at the SaddleBrooke Activity Fair, with many samples of several of the woodworkers’ projects on display, which created a lot of interest and discussion about the club and added eight new members. A countless number of visitors to the fair booth shared that they have “pull-out” and “push-back” garage shops and are very interested in a future community woodworking shop.
The Activity Fair was followed by a demonstration by Joel Ficke on wood finishing, from a very natural finish to the highly polished “piano finish.” The demonstration was limited to 10 club members due to space, but Joel promised to hold another demonstration session in the near future.
The Woodworkers Club is planning more demonstrations to share information on different skills, techniques, and specialty interests. A few of the planned demonstrations are on woodturning, wood joinery, wood finishing, and safety when working with woodworking tools.
The club’s motto of “Creating, Sharing & Community Assisting” has been at the forefront of the club activity by helping community members make some minor repairs to wooden furniture and sharing information at the club meetings. Club meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month, usually in the Saguaro Room in SaddleBrooke TWO. Please check the Woodworkers website sbwoodworkers.org for up-to-date meeting information and information on joining the club.
The SaddleBrooke Woodworkers Club has members with all experience levels and a variety of special focuses. Come and join in!
