The Spanish Culture Club rollicked in laughter and fun during their February meeting in which they enjoyed eating delicious tapas and answering interesting questions about Spain and Latin America. Did you know that dinner in Spain is served between 9:00 and 11:00 p.m.? Spaniards often go barhopping and eat tapas in the time between finishing work and having dinner. Since lunch is served between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. another common time for tapas is around noon as a way of socializing before a proper lunch at home.
Speaking of socializing, on March 25 our club will celebrate the merging of two cultures with Victor and Lilia Sosa presenting a delectable array of Tex-Mex food with Lilia describing what it was like growing up in two cultures.
April 19 brings a joint meeting with the Francophile Club. We are looking forward to some challenging competition playing bocce ball then having a delicious picnic. Three days later on April 22 Stevie Mack is presenting an informational meeting about traveling to Guatemala and Mexico.
Cinco de Mayo brings a celebration at the Vistas with a magnificent Mexican buffet and Mariachi band. On May 29 we are planning a shopping trip to many of the import shops that Tucson offers. We will eat at an ethnic restaurant.
You do not need to speak Spanish to belong to our club. However, on the second Monday of the month we meet at the Roadrunner Grill for a Spanish speaking breakfast. This is an opportunity for those of our members who speak Spanish to get together and practice.
